Several techniques are in this dev, and really match well together.
The abstract (or quick paint) for the background with the brush strokes give a real dynamism to the deviation and allow you to merge perfectly with the portrait.
The classical part of this painting is realistic, with a lot's of details and the small shadow merge perfectly and give some depth to the deviation.

The color scheme you choose is really nice match well.
It's really unusual to have a this kind of vertical composition for a horizontal portrait and that's really the thing that catch my eyes!

To finish the texture give some more details, and a atmosphere and without it the deviation would have look too flat.
